The young soprano Anna Herbst is well established throughout Germany and internationally in great demand.
Anna Herbst was born in Bensberg near Cologne and grew up in the latter city. At the age of seven, she joined the choir of Cologne composer and sacral musician Heinz-Martin Lonquich where she received her first singing lessons.

The Laureate of Bundeswettbewerb Gesang and scholar of the renowned Yehudi Menuhin Foundation is as much at home in concert as on the operatic stage.
Concert Performances led Anna Herbst onto the stages of the Tonhalle Zürich, the Kölner Philharmonie, the great broadcasting hall of the WDR Köln, the Tonhalle Düsseldorf, the Beethovenhaus Bonn as well as to international festivals in France, Italy, Spain, Liechtenstein and Switzerland.

She worked with renowned conductors including Péter Eötvös, Thomas Hengelbrock, Paavo Järvi, Andris Nelsons, Pablo Heras-Casado and Andrei Boreiko.
At the „Philharmonie“ in Cologne she last appeared in the 2018 performances of Bernd Alois Zimmerman’s „Lob der Torheit“ and Francis Poulenc’s „Stabat Mater“ together with the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne.

On the operatic stage she performed numerous parts covering the full spectrum from early Baroque to Mozart to contemporary literary opera. In Zürich she performed the lead part of „Silvia“ in E.T.A. Hoffmann’s Opera „Liebe und Eifersucht“ in Zürich and in Dortmund she played and sang the title role of “Nova” in the world premiere of “Nova – Imperfecting Perfection”. She appeared on stage at the Cologne Opera House, Theater Aachen, Theater Krefeld/Mönchengladbach and Theater Lübeck.

Anna Herbst began her studies when she joined the class of Prof. Henner Leyhe (Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln) while still in High School and continued her studies studied with Prof. Josef Protschka (Diploma), receiving Diplomas in „Singing – Artistic Education“ and „Musical Pedagogics“.
While studying with and Prof. Kai Wessel in Cologne, she recieved additional Master’s Degrees (Master of Music in Opera and Baroque Voice).
Studying with Gerard Quinn in Lübeck she was awarded the Master’s Degree “International Elite Opera Studio” with honors.
Numerous international master classes with Dame Emma Kirkby, Edita Gruberova, Silvana Bartoli-Bazzoni, Paul Agnew, Sissel Hoyem-Aune and Krisztina Laki round out her education.

Recently first recordings with works by Jean-Philippe Dartois and Alfred Bösendorfer were released on CD.
This Season there will be concerts with Concerto Köln, Tobias Koch (Recital with historical fortepiano for the WDR), Hamburger Ratsmusik, Compagnia di Punto and a CD production with renowned recorder virtuoso Dorothee Oberlinger.
